Michelle Wheeler of Wind in the Willows
About Me
My passion for Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine began early in my life. As a fresh graduate I worked in New York City as a Rehabilitation Counselor with adults suffering from severe and persistent mental illnesses. I loved the adventure each day held, but as an ambitious young woman I craved the possibility of true change and life improvement for each man and woman I worked with closely. I quickly observed that only using medications and not addressing diet, lifestyle, or any form of natural medicine often left a void in the rehabilitation process.
After a few years in this field I had the opportunity to teach English in South America and was able to travel for six months throughout Peru, Ecuador, and Chile. It was here that I felt the pieces come together for my unexpressed desires. I saw rehabilitation programs where natural medicine and human compassion accomplished true change in a way that I had not seen in my previous experience. I felt a clarity and had found my calling and so my journey with Traditional Chinese Medicine began deep in the Amazon Jungle.
Four years later, I have received my Master's of Science in Oriental Medicine from the Florida College of Integrative Medicine and am board certified as a Diplomate of Acupuncture from the NCCAOM.
I look forward to meeting and treating you at Wind in the Willows where I will always promote health at its roots!
